A Return to Bonneville… Part Four

In the last group of pictures, you might have noticed that at the rear of the car, Marty took the time to hammer the corners round, weld and grind smooth the joints. Well, he found out it was the wrong thing to do. He’s been told, when the air flows over an object, and runs off the end, if the corner is round, the air wants to follow around the corner. When that happens it slows the flow and stacks up the air behind it, causing drag, one of the most dreaded terms in land speed racing. I will show what he did later to fix the problem.
